Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has rewarded the Uganda Cranes with Shs30 million following their 1-0 victory over Libya in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at Hoima City Stadium.
The financial reward, announced by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), was given on behalf of Kainerugaba, who also serves as Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations and Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).
According to FUFA, the money was delivered by the Head of the Chairman’s Office, MP Daudi Kabanda, and handed over to Uganda captain Denis Onyango.
The reward followed Uganda’s narrow victory over Libya, secured by Arnold Vula’s first-half goal.
Vula headed home Allan Okello’s delivery in stoppage time to give the Cranes all three points in front of the home crowd.
FUFA thanked Kainerugaba for the gesture, saying the Shs30 million package followed the team’s performance in the AFCON 2027 qualifier.
The victory strengthened Uganda’s position in the qualifying campaign, while Hoima City Stadium recorded its first competitive home victory for the Cranes.
