Bloemfontein, South Africa – Ugandan electric vehicle pioneer Kiira Motors has marked a significant milestone in its African Electric Expedition, crossing the 6,000 km mark as the team continues its journey across South Africa.
On Day 18 of the expedition, the Kiira Motors team reported that they had driven 6,108 km, consuming 5,123.08 kWh of energy at an average of 0.84 kWh/km, while avoiding 2,817.69 kg of CO₂ emissions.
The journey forms part of the second South African leg of their ambitious route from Uganda to Cape Town, which the team has branded #FromThePearlToTheCape.
Earlier, the expedition made a notable stop in the Kingdom of Eswatini, where Kiira Motors highlighted the power of African innovation and collaboration.
The team emphasized that with the right vision and partnerships, “Africa can build, scale, and own its solutions,” showcasing the continent’s potential in clean energy and automotive technology.
The African Electric Expedition aims not only to demonstrate the capabilities of electric vehicles in Africa but also to inspire the adoption of sustainable transport solutions across the continent.
Kiira Motors has positioned itself at the forefront of this movement, highlighting homegrown technological innovation and environmental responsibility.
