Police in Kira Division are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out at Midland Junior School in Bulindo Village, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.

The fire occurred on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at about 2:00pm in the girls’ dormitory housing Primary Six and Primary Seven pupils.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, preliminary findings indicate that the fire started from an unknown source and destroyed pupils’ personal belongings, including beds and other property.

“Upon receiving the report, Police together with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Services responded promptly and successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading further,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.

He added that Scene of Crime Officers visited the school and collected relevant information, while statements have been recorded to support investigations.

No injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident.

Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause of the fire, with further updates expected as more information becomes available.
