KAMPALA — The Buganda football fraternity is mourning the death of Bulemeezi Masaza team player Frank Sebyondya, who succumbed to injuries sustained during a Masaza Cup match against Kyaggwe.
Sebyondya, who also featured for Swity Music FC, reportedly suffered the fatal injury after colliding with the Kyaggwe goalkeeper during the Group Masengere fixture played on Sunday at Kosovo Playground in Kasana, Luweero. The match was part of Matchday Six of the 2026 Buganda Masaza Cup.
News of the player’s death emerged on Wednesday, prompting an outpouring of grief from teammates, fans and the wider football community, who paid tribute to the midfielder and expressed condolences to his family.
Swity Music FC confirmed Sebyondya’s passing in a social media post, describing it as a tragic loss to the club and Ugandan football.
