The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has appointed Deogratius Masagazi, Under Secretary in the Ministry of Trade Industry and Cooperatives, to its Board of Directors.
Mr. Masagazi officially took the oath of office on Thursday at the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre in Kololo during a ceremony presided over by Board Chairman Francis Butagira. The oath was administered by John Paul Edoku, Registrar for Planning, Research and Development.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Butagira expressed confidence in the new board member’s ability to contribute to the Bureau’s mandate, particularly as URSB advances its strategic planning agenda.
He noted that Mr. Masagazi joins the Board at a critical time and emphasized the importance of integrity in board service. The Chairman also highlighted key achievements by the Bureau, including mass business registration initiatives and ongoing reforms aimed at protecting geographical indications such as shea butter from Northern Uganda.
While administering the oath, Mr. Edoku underscored the responsibility entrusted to Board members, calling for integrity, professionalism, and strict adherence to ethical standards in line with the URSB Act.
URSB said it looks forward to the strategic guidance Mr. Masagazi will bring as the institution continues to strengthen service delivery and promote business formalisation across the country.
