Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe etched his name into athletics history after becoming the first athlete to run a sub-two-hour marathon under official race conditions at the London Marathon.

Sawe powered to victory in a stunning 1:59:30, finally breaking a barrier long considered the ultimate test of human endurance. His run eclipsed the previous world record and marked a new era for marathon racing.

Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha also delivered a sensational performance on debut, clocking 1:59:41 to finish second and join Sawe in the sub-two-hour club.

Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo capped off a historic race with 2:00:28, a time faster than the former world record, highlighting the unprecedented depth of competition in London.
