One person has died and 25 others have been rescued after a structure under construction collapsed at Holy City Church, Brother Ronnies Ministries, in Bwerenga, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District.
The deceased has been identified as Francis Lukwago, a builder, according to an update issued by Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala on October 27, 2026.
Police said 25 adult men had been rescued from the rubble following the collapse. The survivors were taken to Kisubi Hospital and Entebbe Grade B Hospital for medical treatment.
Search and rescue operations were still underway as emergency response teams worked to establish whether any other people remained trapped beneath the debris.
Investigations have also been launched to establish the cause of the collapse and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police had not provided further details about the construction works or the circumstances that led to the structure giving way by the time of the latest update.
