KAMPALA – Mitchelle Daka has been crowned Miss Universe Uganda 2026, emerging victorious at the grand finale held on Saturday night at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.
Daka impressed the judges throughout the competition with her confidence, poise and purpose, earning the national title after progressing through auditions, mentorship sessions, boot camps, interviews and the final stage of the pageant.
Organisers described her journey as one marked by resilience and authenticity, saying she consistently demonstrated the qualities expected of Uganda’s representative on the international stage.
“The crown has found its Queen,” Miss Universe Uganda announced following the finale. “From the very beginning, you captivated hearts with your authenticity, elegance and unwavering determination. Today, you step into a new chapter as a symbol of inspiration, carrying the hopes and dreams of many.”
As the winner, Daka will represent Uganda at the upcoming Miss Universe competition.
Kimberly Jael Aremo Acio finished as the 1st Runner-up, while Bri Katungi was named 2nd Runner-up. Sureya Umeimah claimed the 3rd Runner-up position, with Jemima Mpoza completing the Top Five as 4th Runner-up.
In addition to winning the overall crown, Daka also received two special awards – Multimedia Queen and Face of V&A Uganda – highlighting her strong digital engagement and brand representation throughout the competition.

The Miss Universe Uganda 2026 Grand Finale also showcased Ugandan fashion, with local designers presenting original creations as contestants competed for the coveted title under this year’s theme, “Beyond the Crown.”
Organisers said the event sought to celebrate not only beauty but also leadership, confidence, culture and purpose, while providing a platform for young Ugandan women to advocate for issues affecting their communities.
With her victory, Daka now begins preparations to represent Uganda on the global Miss Universe stage, where she will compete alongside contestants from around the world for the international crown.
