Miss Uganda Almorie Nagayi: ‘I’m just the face, contact the organisation’

Miss Uganda 2026/27 Almorie Nagayi has urged people seeking answers about the beauty pageant to contact its organisers, saying her role is to represent the brand rather than explain how the organisation operates.

“I’m just the face,” the 19-year-old said during an appearance on Galaxy TV’s Jikonkone Flexx on Saturday, October 24.

Nagayi said she was not involved in every aspect of the organisation’s operations and advised people with questions or requests to approach the organisers directly.

The beauty queen also defended her victory, insisting that the Miss Uganda crown cannot be bought.

“You cannot buy your way to the Miss Uganda crown,” she said.

Nagayi attributed her success partly to her experience in previous beauty competitions, including Miss Uganda High School and representing Uganda at Miss Teen International.

While acknowledging the quality of the other contestants, she said her experience helped distinguish her from the competition.

The new queen also dismissed concerns about possible backlash following her crowning, saying she had not encountered any negative reactions that affected her.

“Nothing negative gets to me,” she said, adding that she was prepared to face whatever criticism might come with her new position.

Nagayi was crowned Miss Uganda 2026/27 on October 11 at Sheraton Gardens in Kampala, succeeding Trivia Elle Muhoza.

Financial literacy and vocational training

Beyond her duties as Miss Uganda, Nagayi said she intends to use her reign to promote financial literacy and vocational training through her Beauty With Purpose project, which targets young women and girls.

She argued that many Ugandans lack basic financial knowledge and said her initiative would seek to equip young women with money-management skills and practical training to help them generate income.

The project reflects her intention to use the platform provided by the crown to address challenges affecting young people, particularly their ability to manage money and acquire skills that can support their livelihoods.

However, the scope of the programme, its implementation plans and the number of beneficiaries were not detailed during the interview.

Personal life and Miss World preparations

On her personal life, Nagayi revealed that she is not dating, saying her responsibilities as Miss Uganda keep her occupied.

She also spoke warmly about her family, saying, “We are all stars in our family.”

The Masaka-born beauty queen is now looking ahead to Miss World 2027 in Tanzania, where she expects to represent Uganda.

During the television interview, she also addressed public discussion surrounding the car prize associated with the Miss Uganda title, while acknowledging the responsibilities that accompany the crown.

Her comments about being “just the face” highlighted her distinction between her public role as the country’s beauty queen and the administrative responsibilities of the organisation running the competition.

As she begins her reign, Nagayi faces the task of balancing public appearances, preparations for international competition and her stated ambition to use the Miss Uganda platform to advance financial literacy and vocational training among young women.
