Twenty-two finalists from across Uganda will compete for the Miss Uganda 2026/2027 crown on October 10, with the winner set to represent the country at Miss World 2027 in Tanzania.

The grand finale will be held at Sheraton Gardens in Kampala starting at 6 p.m., according to Miss World. The event will feature performances from Abeeka Band, Grace Nakimera and Karole Kasita, while viewers will be able to follow the ceremony live on StarTimes’ Makula Kika channels 229 and 493.

The finalists were selected through a regional search involving hundreds of entrants and represent different parts of Uganda.

The 22 contestants are Owomugisha Shivan from Bushenyi, Patience T. Besigye from Kabale, Taneta C. Melisha from Koboko, Nakakande M. The winner will succeed Trivia Elle Muhoza, who is expected to crown her successor after a year representing Uganda and supporting community-focused causes.

At Miss World 2026 in Vietnam, Muhoza was among Africa’s Top Six finalists in the Beauty With a Purpose challenge and also reached the Top Five in the Multimedia Challenge. She also placed among the Top 24 contestants globally in Beauty With a Purpose.

The 2026/2027 edition coincides with the 15th anniversary of the Miss Uganda Foundation, led by Brenda Nanyonjo.

The foundation has focused on supporting young women to build confidence, pursue opportunities and take leadership roles in their communities.

Uganda has participated in the Miss World competition since 1967, when Rosemary Salmon became the country’s first representative.

The 2027 Miss World competition, described by the organisers as the 74th edition, is scheduled to take place in Tanzania in September 2027.

The Miss Uganda winner will therefore take on the responsibility of representing the country at the international competition while continuing the national pageant’s focus on community service under the Beauty With a Purpose programme.
