Ugandan rapper Fik Fameica clashed with Makerere University Guild President Gracious Kadondi after she interrupted his performance at the university’s 2026 Freshers Ball on Saturday night.

The confrontation unfolded at Impis Rugby Grounds in Kampala when Kadondi walked onto the stage accompanied by members of her team and took the microphone while Fik Fameica was performing.

The Guild President reportedly wanted to address students after missing an earlier opportunity to speak during the event.

However, the rapper appeared unhappy with the interruption and demanded that Kadondi and her team leave the stage.

“Leave my stage! I have work to do,” Fik Fameica was heard saying in video footage of the confrontation circulating on social media.

The exchange quickly escalated, attracting the attention of police officers and members of the musician’s team, who were also seen on stage as the two sides exchanged words.

Some students responded by chanting Fik Fameica’s name as the confrontation continued for several minutes.

Kadondi eventually left the stage with her team, allowing the rapper to resume his performance.

The incident has generated debate on social media, with some users questioning why the Guild President interrupted an ongoing performance, while others argued that she deserved an opportunity to address students at an event organised with the involvement of the Students’ Guild.

There were also claims that the musician had arrived late and that organisers were under pressure to conclude the programme, although the circumstances surrounding the interruption had not been officially explained.

The Freshers Ball, held under the hashtag #MAKFreshersBall26, featured performances from several Ugandan artistes, including Azawi, Feffe Bussi, Winnie Nwagi, Winnie Wa Mummy and Mozelo Kidz.

The free-entry event was supported by Coca-Cola through its Essaawa Yonna Kisoboka campaign.

Kadondi was elected Makerere University’s 92nd Guild President in April 2026 on the National Unity Platform ticket, polling 6,801 votes ahead of her closest challenger, Hannah Karema.

Neither the university administration, the Students’ Guild nor the event organisers had publicly commented on the confrontation by the time of publication.
