Mukono — Renowned investigative journalist and media executive Solomon Serwanjja has officially taken the oath of office as the newly elected Chairperson of Bamutakudde Village, located in Ddundu Parish, Kyampisi Subcounty, Mukono District.
Following his swearing-in ceremony, Serwanjja expressed profound gratitude for the community’s overwhelming support.
He described being deeply humbled by a multitude of residents who escorted him from the subcounty headquarters back to the village amidst songs, joy, and celebration—calling it a powerful sign of trust and collective hope for the next five years.
A Five-Year Strategic Roadmap
During his inaugural address, Serwanjja unveiled the Bamutakudde Model Village Strategic Plan (2026–2031), a community-owned roadmap designed to transform the area into a thriving and self-reliant village.
The development vision is anchored on five core pillars: healthy and educated people, prosperous households, water, sanitation, and environment, a safe and cohesive community and accountable governance.
Serwanjja emphasised that his administration’s guiding principles will centre on evidence-based leadership, household-level transformation, transparency, and strategic partnerships capable of delivering measurable results.
Furthermore, the local strategic plan has been intentionally aligned with national frameworks, including Uganda’s Parish Development Model (PDM), the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV), and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“I took the oath to defend the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and to serve the people of Bamutakudde without fear or favour,” Serwanjja stated, signalling readiness for the work ahead under the guiding motto: “Our Village. Our Responsibility. Our Future”.
