The Anti-Corruption Court has granted bail to Matthew Bagonza, the Head of Secretariat at the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID), who is facing charges of money laundering and abuse of office.

Bagonza was granted bail on a cash deposit of Shs20 million and a non-cash bond of Shs30 million for each of his sureties.

As part of the bail conditions, the court ordered Bagonza to surrender his passport and barred him from travelling outside Uganda without prior permission from the court.

He was also ordered to deposit his land title and that of his sister with the court as additional security.

Bagonza is required to report to the court registrar on every date his case comes up for mention before the magistrate’s court.

The bail conditions are intended to ensure that he remains available to attend court proceedings as his case continues.
