Two employees of Next Media have died in a fatal road crash along Entebbe Road, while entertainment journalist Brian Makona sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
The victims have been identified as Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye, who died at the scene of the crash that occurred on Friday, August 7, 2026, at about 2:00am near Stabex in Namulanda, Wakiso District.
According to police, the crash involved two vehicles — a Toyota Allex registration number UA 779DE and a Toyota Hilux registration number UAS 976W.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Toyota Hilux, which was travelling from Entebbe towards Kampala, allegedly lost control while approaching the Stabex area and crossed into the opposite lane.
Police said the vehicle then collided head-on with the oncoming Toyota Allex.
“As a result of the collision, Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye died at the scene, while Brian Makona sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital for medical treatment,” said SP Michael Kananura, Police spokesperson for Traffic and Road Safety.
Police said the exact circumstances and cause of the crash remain under investigation, with further details to be released after inquiries are concluded.
The force extended condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased and wished Makona a quick recovery.
The crash has left Uganda’s media fraternity mourning the loss of the two Next Media employees, with colleagues describing them as valued members of the newsroom team.
