NAIROBI — Kenyan politician and veteran lawyer Martha Karua is mourning the loss of her father, Mwalimu Jackson Karua, who passed away suddenly.
In a moving public tribute, Karua remembered her father as a principled educator who believed in her from her earliest school days through her legal and public career, instilling lifelong values of character, education, and integrity.
Tributes immediately poured in from leaders across the political divide. President William Ruto led the nation in offering condolences, sharing a message of comfort on social media.
“Mwalimu Karua devoted his life to teaching and service, touching generations through his work and leaving a lasting impact on many lives,” President Ruto wrote, assuring the family of the nation’s thoughts and prayers during the difficult time.
Other prominent leaders, including former Chief Justice David Maraga and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, also joined in mourning, honouring Mwalimu Karua’s lifelong dedication to the teaching profession and his role in shaping a staunch patriot and public servant.
