Kayiwa Amir has been remanded until September 30, 2026, after being arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of offering gratification.
Kayiwa was brought before court on Monday by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in coordination with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
According to the Anti-Corruption Unit, Kayiwa allegedly offered Shs8 million to police officers who were guarding a crime scene at Lubowa in Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District, on August 29, 2026.
The alleged bribe was intended to enable him to gain access to the office of Asimwe Emmanuel at Details Security Company Ltd, where he reportedly sought to remove what investigators described as vital evidence.
The Anti-Corruption Unit said the incident followed an earlier complaint concerning the alleged theft of 785 kilograms of gold from the premises of Details Security Company Ltd.
The complaint prompted the Anti-Corruption Unit and police to secure and cordon off the premises as investigations into the alleged theft got underway.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit announced Kayiwa’s arraignment in a post on Monday, saying he had been remanded until September 30.
