KAMPALA — A 26-year-old Kyambogo University student was found dead in her room at Sports Pro-Hostel in Banda, Kampala, on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Precious Musimenta, a Bachelor’s degree student in Accounting and Finance attached to North Hall.
The university confirmed her death in a communication issued by the Office of the Dean of Students on Monday, saying the circumstances surrounding her death had not yet been established.
“The late was found dead in her room at Sports Pro-Hostel in Banda today, Monday 28th September 2026,” said Dr Agnes Nakimuli Mugalu, the Dean of Students.
Musimenta’s body was taken to City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
“The body has been taken to City Mortuary for further investigations where a post-mortem report on the cause of her death will be provided,” Mugalu said.
The university has not disclosed the circumstances surrounding her death or indicated any suspected cause pending the findings of the post-mortem examination.
The Student Welfare Department has also contacted Musimenta’s family to support arrangements for her burial, according to the university.
The death has prompted tributes from fellow students and members of the university community, who have shared messages of condolence for her family and friends.
Investigations into the circumstances of Musimenta’s death are continuing.
