Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo delivered one of the greatest performances of his career at the London Marathon, clocking 2:00:28 — a time quicker than the previous world record.

Kiplimo finished third in what is now widely regarded as the fastest marathon race in history. Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe won the race in a groundbreaking 1:59:30, becoming the first athlete to break the two-hour barrier in official competition.

Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha followed closely in second place with 1:59:41, also dipping under two hours in a remarkable marathon debut.

The race saw three athletes run faster than the previous world record, signaling a dramatic shift in the limits of elite distance running.
