Richarlison inspired Brazil against 10-man Germany 4-2

It took the intervention of VAR for New Zealand to register their first ever win at the Olympics in Men’s football. That win was against South Korea who despite showing command in ball possession could not break the New Zealand back in the match which ended 1-0. New Zealand’s 70th minute goal was scored by Woodsy in what was flagged as offside but later exonerated by VAR. The win puts New Zealand at level which beat Honduras 1-0 in the other of Group B match.

Meanwhile hosts Japan won their first game in the men’s football competition, successfully seeing off South Africa 1-0 despite a spirited last effort from Bafana Bafana. Japan now sits second in Group A, behind Mexico who put four past France in a 4-1 win earlier today.
