Professor Patrick Ogwang, the developer of Covidex, has donated 500 doses of COVIDEX to Parliament in appreciation of government support.
The development was revealed Wednesday by the Deputy Speaker Anitah Among.
The donation came on the same day Ogwang was given five hectares of land in Soroti Industrial Park to build a factory for producing Covidex.
Meanwhile, Among too wondered why the government procured 282 double cabin pickups for COVID19 for surveillance, transportation of laboratory samples and follow ups, at a cost of UGX 23.9bn, yet every district has a vehicle for the RDC, CAO, DPC, Chairperson and other government officials.
Among directed the Public Accounts Committees on Central Government and Local Government to scrutinize the list of beneficiaries laid before the House by the Prime Minister.
Every district has a vehicle for the RDC, CAO, DPC, Chairperson and other government officials.
“Why didnt you consider using these vehicles for COVID19 surveillance and use the money for other interventions instead of buying pickups?” she questioned.
“Since Parliament budgeted for ambulance, each of us have Constituencies and we need our ambulances in the district.”
