The minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng has officially handed over refrigerated trucks to National Medical Stores (NMS).
The vehicles were procured by UNICEF with Gavi support.
An effective cold chain system will allow the Health ministry to deliver life-saving vaccines to across Uganda.
“The arrival of the two of the five cold chain trucks are timely because they will help boost our capacity as NMS; they are coming at a time when we have a big demand for vaccines,” said NMS General Manager, Moses Kamabare at the official receipt of the two cold chain trucks from GAVI.
Aceng said these trucks will support NMS to build a resilient fleet to distribute and support Immunization activities across the country.
“I am glad that NMS has built capacity to store vaccines that require both high and low temperatures.”
