The ruling party loyalist blogger Ashburg Katto says he was assaulted by “his own people”, the police yet they are on the same side.
According to a series of tweets released Monday, Katto was rushing to the national broadcaster UBC TV to present an important document.
He said the document was about a national project on climate change.
Apparently, a cop he identified as Gilbert Atwasa, the officer-in-charge of Post Office police post.
“I have been badly assaulted (physically), embarrassed and manhandled by O.C of Post Office Police Post (Atwasa Gilbert). They would have beat me but not tow the car I just borrowed to take me at @ubctvuganda to present a National Project about the Climate Change,” he tweeted with crying emojis.
“Even after identifying myself still they continued to beat the teeth out of me, how can I lose a teeth in the hands of the government and same institution I had just represented on a national tv like this??? Is this how u could pay me @PoliceUg ? Thank you.”
He said the president’s fisherman Balaam Barugahare tried to save him but they (officers) couldn’t talk to him.
“I called everyone I thought could help me but they didn’t pick, others couldn’t do much to save a fakini Katto, I am hurt to core, I can’t even forgive myself. I thought I was of a little value to my gov’t I was wrongI wish I can die rather than being hurt by my very own….Thank u 🙏. Thank u, thank u.”
“How will I even walk on the same streets with these gaps in my teeth God? How? Friends, I’m in pain. As in real pain but the doctors at Senta Medical are trying,” cried Katto.
Amidst all this, the blogger still renewed his oath of allegiance to the head of state.
“I WILL VOTE @KagutaMuseveni AND I WILL ALWAYS LOVE MY COUNTRY BÙT AS OF NOW… I DENOUNCE MY LOVE N SUPPORT FOR THIS GOVERNMENT. LET ME TREAT MY WOUNDS, PAIN & SHAME IN PEACE, I WILL RISE AGAIN INSHALLAH.”
Ashburg was once a National Unity Platform party diehard before betraying Bobi Wine and crossing to government.
