Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake has said since not everyone can endure the long wait for the junta handouts, on behalf of Zaake Foundation, he gave out relief items like Matooke, Rice, beef and liquid cash.
The beneficiaries convened at Mityana Gombolola grounds in strict adherence to the MoH protocols.
He said barely 24 hrs after his Foundation gave food to hunger-stricken constituents, the regime has now banned further donations by leaders to the public.
“My colleagues & I had been compelled to aid citizens so as to fill a vacuum created by the regime’s perennial poor planning, corruption and false promises.”
Zaake said ok Monday that the regime has kept on playing a disappearing act on desperate citizens whose sources of livelihood were interrupted by the lockdown, “yet even the UGX 100,000/= it promised 1% of the population is no where to be seen”.
He said in similar circumstances in April last year after he had donated foodstuffs to neighbours, security led by DPC Mwine Alex Mukono and RPC Bob Kagarura raided his home and tortured him to near death.
“Judgment in my torture case, Kampala HCMC 85 of 2020, has never been given.”
Zaake on Sunday reached out to over 700 beneficiaries with a bunch of matooke, 5kgs of maize flour, 8kgs of rice and Shs10,000 each.
