Parliament building will be closed on June 12 and 13, 2011 for fumigation.
Speaker Jacob Oulanyah said the situation of COVID19 is very bad and the second wave has affected some MPs and staff.
“Parliament has a medical insurance scheme and I advise you to seek medical care immediately.”
On Thursday, he said Parliament has confirmed cases of COVID19 among Members and staff and calls for care as the House conducts business.
This followed concerns by some MPs that their colleagues have been denied entry into Kololo due to lack of test results.
The tests were carried out by a medical team from the Special Forces Command (SFC).
“These are difficult times; whatever keeps us safe, we must hold onto it. We should not politicize a pandemic of this nature. The challenge is, because of the numbers, the results take longer than before,” he said.
“The managers of this process should pull up their socks and make this happen. I announced the days of the testing but if results are not out, it is unacceptable. However, we cannot take any risks,” added Oulanyah.
