The General Court Martial based in Makindye has remanded more National Unity Platform members.
On Tuesday, while Bobi Wine waited for his comrades to be released by the military court on bail, the army instead produced others who have been under illegal detention for over three weeks and remanded them to Kitalya.
These include; Machete Yasin, Segujja Rashid and Olivia Lutaaya and many others who he has not been able to access for all this time.
He said all these were abducted from different places and kept incommunicado.
“They have been denied access to lawyers and even yesterday when they appeared in the military court, our lawyers attempted to access the court but were blocked.”
They were charged with among other unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, the same charges brought on Nubian Li and team.
“This is the state of Uganda in 2021! This is why we must not allow anything to divert us from the critical role of redeeming this country from repression,” he said.
He said those still locked up at Kitalya for six months “for no crime whatsoever” were barred from coming to court after prison authorities received orders from “above”.
“They seem to be using the excuse of COVID even when the court has proceeded to listen to other cases.”
NUP social media
Meanwhile, the party says it has atleast recovered it’s social media platforms which were hacked into and hijacked.
“As you are aware, our social media handles (Facebook & Twitter) were hacked into and compromised by the state some months back.
In the past couple of weeks, we have been trying to regain access to them and finally today, our twitter account has been retrieved by our team,” the party said Tuesday.
“Our verification badge was disabled and in the subsequent days, our team will be working hard to have our account verified again.”
