UPDF has never set foot in Somaliland, said opposition figure Kizza Besigye on Sunday.
He was disputing reports claiming Ugandan troops are providing him security in Somaliland.
“This is one of the most peaceful (& democratic) areas in the Horn of Africa,” said the retired colonel.
Besigye is Boroma, Somaliland, as part of the monitoring team for today’s elections in this interesting country, still seeking official recognition after a long 30 years.
He met with John Githongo, CEO of Inuka Kenya Ltd who said he was “honoured to be observing elections in Somaliland with African democratic warrior”.
“Mhe John Githongo happens to be one of Africa’s most fierce anti-corruption warriors!
It’s a great pleasure to meet in a very interesting and intriguing part of our region,” Besigye said in turn.
