The first batch of MPs-Elect has taken oath at the South Wing of the Ugandan parliament.
The Clerk to Parliament, Jane Kibirige, read the proclamation marking the start of the swearing in ceremony.
Hon Jessica Ababiku, Adjumani District MP, was the first to take oath of Member of Parliament and that of allegiance as established on the constitution.
The house took a break after 65 out of the 66 MPs who should have taken oath before lunch time, did so.
The ceremony will resume at 1.30pm.
After taking oath, all MPs proceed to the Clerk’s table to append their signatures what they have subscribed to.
