Protests broke out in the diaspora Friday to show displeasure ahead of President Museveni’s inauguration.
The Kololo Ceremonial Grounds (Kololo Airstrip) will on Wednesday 12th May 2021 be the venue for the swearing-in ceremony of the President-Elect, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Atleast 11 presidents have already confirmed attendance of the ceremony.
Ugandans living in United States of America, United Kingdom and Netherlands carried placards denouncing the NRM regime.
National Unity Platform leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine lauded his members for allegedly exposing dictatorship to the world.
Here is his statement:
Our Diaspora teams are doing a wonderful job exposing the dictatorship to the world. Thank you team Netherlands 🇳🇱 for coming out to protest on behalf of your oppressed countrywomen and men.
Gen. Museveni is amusing himself and preparing to swear himself in illegally and without shame. I am grateful to all Ugandans who are making it clear to him that the struggle did not end with the rigged election. Aluta continua!
A VERY BIG THANK YOU to you comrades in the United States of America 🇺🇸. Yesterday these comrades had a powerful protest at the Capitol, the Legislative Seat of the US. Thank you for continuing to show the world how Uganda is under a military dictatorship with nothing left to offer.
Thank you for calling out the regime of blood and exposing them to the world. As Gen. Museveni pays millions of dollars to lobby firms to cleanse his image abroad, the people of Uganda must not allow him get away with the abductions, murders and torture of our people. One step at a time, the dictatorship will fall.
Ugandans all over the world are speaking and the world is watching. A very big thank you to our United Kingdom 🇬🇧 diaspora team for staging a powerful protest yesterday in London. Let the world know that Uganda is bleeding. Thank you for speaking out on behalf of our people who are rotting in jails and torture chambers.
It is activities of this nature that weaken and eventually bring down dictators. Gen. Museveni is fully aware of this, and that is why he has to spend our money on lobbyist firms in millions of dollars. Super proud of all of you Ugandans abroad who continue on the path of the struggle for freedom and democracy.
The dictator will make every effort to divert us, discourage us and derail us. He has been at it for a long time because he knows how dangerous we are as a united and determined front. Thankfully he has not succeeded in the past and he will not succeed moving forward. We have one duty, and that is to our nation. In the end, we shall surely emerge victorious.
