Journalists and lawyer Male Mabirizi have been blocked from accessing the Supreme Court to receive his ruling fixed for today by Lady Justice Dr Esther Kisakye.
Justice Ester Kisakye who was also blocked from accessing the courtroom was forced to addresses media outside the gate of Supreme Court in Kololo, Kampala.
“It is sad for our country that the unconstitutional events that started yesterday in the premises of supreme Court are continuing today,” she said.
Kisakye says she couldn’t pronounce herself on Mabirizi’s matter while reading her consolidating ruling yesterday.
“When I discovered that Mr Mabirizi was in court, I decided to make my ruling today at 11am.”
However, on arrival, both Mabirizi, Justice Kisakye and journalists who had gone to cover the ruling found gates closed and were not allowed inside.
Trouble started Thursday when she defied the Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo and read her judgement which deferred from her colleagues during the withdraw of the Robert Kyagulanyi election petition.
Justice Kisakye said that the reasons advanced by Kyagulanyi were more than unusual circumstances and therefore his applications should have all been allowed.
She noted that it was not right for the Attorney General to argue the way he did on the strict timelines because the issue of amending petitions has happened before in the Presidential Election Petition of the Amama Mbabazi and therefore it cannot be unlawful.
