A contractor working with LOGISCO Company Ltd has been arraigned before the Tororo Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly impersonating a State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) officer and demanding Shs10 million from individuals implicated in corruption-related allegations.
Muzuusa Derrick was charged with obtaining money by false pretence and remanded until October 6, 2026.
According to the SH-ACU, Muzuusa allegedly committed the offence on September 22, 2026, at Tororo Municipal Council in Tororo District, where he reportedly acted alongside other suspects who remain at large.
Prosecution alleges that Muzuusa presented himself as an SH-ACU officer and claimed he could facilitate the release of individuals facing corruption-related allegations arising from the ongoing Expose the Corrupt Campaign, led by Local Government Minister Balaam Barugahara.
The accused allegedly demanded Shs10 million from municipal council officials and other individuals, claiming the money would be used to secure their release and manage their cases.
Muzuusa was arraigned on September 26, 2026, in a joint operation involving the SH-ACU, the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
The SH-ACU has urged members of the public to report suspected cases of impersonation, extortion and corruption involving individuals who falsely claim to be its officers in exchange for assistance with corruption-related investigations or cases.
The allegations against Muzuusa have not been proven in court.
