KAMPALA — A school fees fundraising campaign led by journalist Solomon Serwanjja has raised Shs6.116 million to support the return of 100 primary school children to class in Bamutakudde.

Serwanjja announced the achievement on Thursday, September 25, saying the money raised through a crowdfunding campaign had been used to pay school fees for the 100 children.

The campaign was launched several weeks ago with a target of providing 100 scholarships to primary school pupils in the Bamutakudde area.

“Today, I am overjoyed to share that WE DID IT,” Serwanjja said in a post on X, thanking Ugandans who contributed to the campaign.

He said the initiative was made possible through a crowdfunding partnership with Grooply, a platform operated by ioTec Limited.

Serwanjja also said ioTec Limited donated four laptops to support the operations of the organisation behind the campaign.

He thanked contributors for their support, saying the funds had helped keep the children in school and provided relief to their families.

The campaign is part of efforts by the Bamutakudde community initiative to mobilise support for children whose education is affected by financial constraints.
