Baba Media Group has appealed to security agencies and the public for information on the whereabouts of journalist Jjengo Eria, who has been missing since September 10, 2026.
Moses Grace Balyeku, the Chairperson of Baba Media Group, said Eria, who works in the Baba TV newsroom, was last seen leaving the media organisation’s headquarters in Ntinda, Kampala, at around midday on September 10.
Baba TV has said the journalist’s last movements were captured on the station’s CCTV cameras. The media house subsequently reported his disappearance to Kira Road Police Station on September 11.
In an appeal issued on Wednesday, Balyeku said eyewitnesses had reported seeing Eria being taken away in a Toyota Noah, with a Toyota Premio reportedly following behind.
“The two vehicles were seen speeding off together, heading towards Kisaasi,” Balyeku said.
He called on anyone with information about Eria’s whereabouts to come forward and urged security authorities to provide an update on the case.
“I further call upon the relevant security authorities to urgently provide an update on his whereabouts and ensure his safe return,” Balyeku said.
Baba Media Group has not publicly established who took Eria or whether the vehicles reported by witnesses were connected to his disappearance.
The Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) has also joined calls for authorities to locate the journalist. At a press conference in Ntinda on September 15, UJA Secretary Emmanuel Kirunda called for urgent action to establish Eria’s whereabouts.
Baba TV management has asked security agencies to help trace surveillance footage along roads around Ntinda, saying such footage could assist investigations into the reported disappearance.
The media organisation has appealed to members of the public with information about Eria to contact Baba TV as investigations continue.
Eria’s disappearance has also attracted concern from colleagues within the media fraternity, with Baba TV and Baba FM continuing to publish appeals for information on his whereabouts.
