City Hall Court has remanded two game rangers and a businesswoman to Luzira Prison over allegations that they collected money from job seekers after promising to secure them employment with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).

The suspects are Dan Kamugisha, 39, of Kanungu District; George Habasa, 41, a game ranger attached to the Katungulu sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park and a resident of Rubirizi District; and Rosemary Asiimwe, also known as Recheal, a businesswoman from Kirugu Village in Rubirizi District.

The three appeared before City Hall Senior Principal Magistrate Nicholas Aisu and denied the charges.

Prosecutor Mercy Yamangusho told court that the alleged offences occurred between May and June 2026 at UWA headquarters in Kololo, Kampala.

According to the charge sheet, the suspects allegedly obtained Shs5 million from Justus Akampulira after falsely claiming that they would secure him a job at UWA.

They are also accused of obtaining another Shs5 million from David Naturinda under a similar promise.

The prosecution listed Brenda Kabagenyi, Rachel Ainembabazi, Mackson Nuwamanya, Naume Natukunda, Samuel Bitarabeho, Ivan Nkamwesiga and Chance Amos as other alleged victims.

Court heard that each of the listed complainants allegedly paid Shs5 million after being promised employment at UWA.

The accused applied for bail, but the prosecution opposed the application, arguing that they had failed to provide substantial sureties.

Magistrate Aisu consequently ordered that the three be remanded to Luzira Prison pending a ruling on their bail application.

The court is expected to rule on the bail application on October 13, 2026.

The allegations have not been tested at trial. The three accused have denied the charges and remain presumed innocent unless convicted by a competent court.
