3 arrested over robbery, rape in Nsangi

WAKISO — Police have arrested three suspects in connection with an alleged robbery and rape incident in Bujjasi Cell, Maya Ward, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 4am on August 14, 2026, when three men allegedly broke into a saloon where several women were sleeping.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the suspects allegedly robbed the occupants of mobile phones and cash before sexually assaulting two of the victims.

Police launched investigations immediately after the incident and followed leads that enabled detectives to identify and arrest three suspects.

On August 17, police conducted an identification parade in accordance with the law. During the exercise, two of the victims identified one of the suspects, Kato Enock, among those presented.

Police said the three suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

Investigators are also working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether other people were involved.

The suspects will be taken to court once investigations are complete and in accordance with the law.

Police urged members of the public to report criminal incidents promptly and provide information that could assist investigators.

The force also commended the victims for cooperating with investigators.

The suspects remain innocent unless and until proved guilty by a competent court.
