KAMPALA — Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested three men suspected of being part of a group involved in robberies targeting members of the public around Jomayi Estate in Mulawa, Kira Municipality.

Police said the suspects were arrested on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at about 10:30pm after officers responded to reports of suspicious movements near the roundabout leading to Jomayi Estate.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, officers from Kiwologoma Police Station who were conducting patrols in the area responded to the reports together with officers from Najjera Police Station.

The three suspects, who were travelling on one motorcycle, allegedly attempted to flee when police approached but were apprehended.

A search conducted on the suspects recovered two pangas, an iPhone, a handbag containing assorted women’s belongings, a small baton and a mobile phone, among other items, police said.

The suspects were identified as Damba Isima, 30, of Lugoba, Nabweru, Nansana; Musisi John, 21, also of Lugoba, Nabweru, Nansana; and Katemba Vincent, 30.

Police said Katemba was found riding motorcycle registration number UMA 369NH and had no known place of residence.

During interrogation, the suspects allegedly admitted possessing the pangas and operating in the area, according to police.

The three were taken to Kira Division Police Station for further management as investigations continue.

Police are also working to establish the owners of the property recovered from the suspects.

“Anyone who may have lost property in the area is encouraged to report to the Police,” Owoyesigyire said.

Kampala Metropolitan Police commended officers from Kiwologoma and Najjera police stations for their response and coordination, which led to the arrests and recovery of the suspected stolen property.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
