KAMPALA — Police in Kampala Metropolitan South have arrested three suspects and recovered an iPhone 11 allegedly stolen during musician King Saha’s show in Kololo on August 15, 2026.
The arrests were made by officers from Nateete Police Division following a video that circulated on social media showing a woman crying after reportedly losing her mobile phone during the event.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police South Deputy Public Relations Officer ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, intelligence-led investigations led police to Lubwama Abud alias Mafia, who allegedly admitted stealing the iPhone 11 and selling it to Ssentongo Joseph.
Police subsequently conducted an operation in Nateete Central A Zone, where Ssentongo was arrested and the suspected stolen phone recovered.
Investigators also recovered a pink phone cover from Ssentongo’s bag, which police said was reportedly on the phone when it was stolen.
Further investigations established that Ssentongo had taken the phone to Sserunjogi Kasim, who allegedly helped unlock the device at Kalungi Mall to enable it to be used.
The three suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
Police are also pursuing other individuals suspected of involvement in the theft and the subsequent unlocking of the phone.
ASP Owoyesigyire said investigators are working to identify and trace the rightful owner of the recovered iPhone and establish where the original theft case was reported for further management.
Police have urged members of the public who lose valuable property to report such incidents promptly, while those who come across suspected stolen property are advised to notify authorities rather than attempt to use or sell it.
