Another bomb scare has been reported at Akamwesi building along Gayaza Road.
“We have learnt of another explosion of a suspected bomb around Akamwesi Mall. We have dispatched a rescue team to support along side Ambulances just in case any life saving interventions are required,” reported Uganda Red Cross.
It added: “We call upon the Public to be vigilant and also calm as we communicate so that we don’t cause more harm to those in “affected” areas. This is still an alert and we need to treat it with utmost sensitivity,” said Irene Nakasiita, Red Cross Spokesperson.
An ambulance team, however, confirmed it was a false alert.
Red Cross said police had secured the area.
“Following Public Calls thru our Call center for suspected “bomb blast” our response team reached the scene & confirmed the place has been secured. Thanks to the great efforts of the Police. We encourage the Public to be Vigilant to report to police all suspicious objects.”
Private security guards told journalists there was nothing like an explosion.
This is the second time a bomb scare is being reported at Akamwesi Mall.
The first report turned out to be a polythene bag full of used pampers.
