Kampala city centre is being sealed off as security secures the scenes of Tuesday twin bombings that shook the country.

Vehicles from Nakawa, going to the City are being diverted at the Airtel roundabout near the Electoral commission’s offices.

Already, areas close to the scenes of the twin bomb blasts have already been cordoned off.

People have been ordered to leave the city center. Most of the city dwellers are now walking home because, transport fares have been hiked with taxi operators citing the chaos in town as the reason, according to Stephen Mbidde, NTV reporter.

Forensic investigators earlier arrived at Parliamentary avenue as security operatives continue to comb the scene for any pieces of evidence into the explosion that went off earlier.

27 hospitalised

The Deputy Executive Director of Mulago hospital, Dr Rosemary Kusaba, said they so far received 27 causalities with seven of these are in a critical condition.

Seven of the casualties are women, according to Mulago hospital medical personnel.

An ambulance arrives at Mulago hospital

A number of police officers are admitted in Mulago hospital’s casualty ward where they are receiving treatment for injuries sustained after an explosion went off at the Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala this morning.

“I was at the CPS reception when I just heard a loud blast, the next thing I saw was blood on my leg,” said a victim of the explosion.

“We were coming from an operation and we had just arrived at CPS when the bomb explosion happened, I am in a lot pain, my family doesn’t even know anything,” an injured police officer told NTV.

Chief of Military Intelligence, Maj Gen Abel Kandiho, Director Counter Terrorism, AIGP Abasi Byakagaba and the outgoing commander Military Police, Brig Gen Keith Katungi were also seen at Parliamentary Avenue where an explosion was reported on November 16, 2021.
