Bigirwa remanded over plot to extort deputy speaker

Opposition NUP party coordinator, Moses Bigirwa, has been remanded for allegedly trying to extort Shs100m from the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among.

Bigirwa was brought to Buganda Road Court Thursday alongside journalist Pidson Kareire.

The suspects

They were charged with three counts of offensive communication, criminal libel and demanding money with menaces.

The accused were remanded to Kitalya up to 19/11/2021 for further mention.

The National Unity Platform coordinator was arrested last week outside Among’s home in Nakasero.

In an audio recording making rounds on social media, Bigirwa, a former Kamuli Municipality MP contestant was heard asking for shs100 million from the deputy Speaker.
