The FDC is concerned with how curfew time is being implemented by the Uganda police, which has continuously abused it
“We propose that curfew time be lifted to at least to 10:00pm to allow people finish up with their work, do evening shopping and travel back home,” said John Kikonyogo, deputy FDC spokesperson.
With the current situation, people start moving at about 6pm trying to beat curfew of 7pm and they end up joining the road at the same time causing traffic jam and delaying on the road, he noted.
He said by the time a person gets home it is already past curfew and police men use this opportunity to extort money from the citizens.
The current time of curfew for Bodabodas is the time when people are going back home and the right time for boda bodas to work.
“We would therefore advise that curfew time be lifted up to 10pm.”
