UNAIDS Executive Director Winnie Byanyima has called out first son Muhoozi Kainerugaba over a tweet she seemed detrimental to the lives of Ugandans living in Ethiopia.
The Commander of UPDF Land Forces tweeted on November 5: “I urge my great and brave brothers in the Tigrayan Defence Forces to listen to the words of General Yoweri Museveni!”
He added: “I am as angry as you and I support your cause. Those who raped our Tigrayan sisters and killed our brothers must be punished!”
On Sunday, Byanyima tweeted advising him to “please delete this tweet”.
“It is risking the lives of Ugandans working and living in Ethiopia,” she said.
In response, Muhoozi tweeted: “Madame Winnie. Good to hear from you. It’s been a long time. I last saw you in State House in 1987.”
He went on: “It is the responsibility of the Ethiopian government to protect all citizens & visitors in Addis & the rest of the country. If the TDF is doing it in areas they control, why shouldn’t the government?”
Twitter exploded with their supporters attacking each other as concern grows over the first son’s tweets on controversial matters.
