Former Bank of Uganda Deputy Governor Robert Elangot has died. He was aged 87.
He breathed his last at International Hospital Kampala on Saturday.
He was hospitalized in late September due to multiple organ complications.
Burial arrangements will be announced later.
“A fine economist who rose through the ranks to the highest position at the central bank, Mzee Robert Elangot leaves a legacy of dedicated service to the Country,” said Anitah Among, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
She added: “My sympathies to the bereaved family ,Teso subregion and the Country.May his soul find eternal rest.”
Elangot served as the Central Bank Deputy Governor between 1980 and 1986.
