The Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga has informed the house that Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya is not just sick but ill.
He said that Ssegirinya’s health is not good and his personal doctors have not be involved.
He has asked the Speaker to make a humanitarian intervention consider other options.
According to Mpuuga, the health of the Kawempe North MP has been ignored by the state.
“I am here to raise a red flag to the Speaker to this House and the Speaker to secure the health of the Member,” he told plenary on Tuesday.
“I amplified our demand for the state to account for the lives of Ugandans whose whereabouts remain unknown since their abduction by the state. I also updated the House about the condition of Hon Sseggirinya who’s not just sick but ILL. Hon Ssewanyana is also sick.”
The Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja said: “Since we have been told that Hon Ssegirinya has a personal doctor, I suggest that myself, the Speaker and the Leader of the Opposition go and visit the member and we forge a way forward.”
She said they will find out how he is doing and devise means of what should be done next.
Deputy Speaker Anitah Among informed the house that Parliament is ready to do whatever it takes even if it means taking the member outside the country but will only wait for Government to give them a go ahead on the next step.
Mpuuga also demanded the Government to come out and explain the whereabouts of people that were abducted during elections and have never been seen since then.
