The Minister for Health, Jane Ruth Aceng, has flagged off equipment procured with support from Global Fund to support the COVID-19 response.

This includes: 2 Ambulance speed boats, 1,450 oxygen cylinders, 3 refrigerator trucks, PSA Oxygen plants, oxygen consumables and supplies.

The supplies also included; COVID-19 PCR Reagents, COVID-19 RDTs, COVID-19 sample collection materials and laboratory equipment to decentralize COVID-19 testing.

The ambulance boats will be deployed to support Kalangala and Buvuma islands.

Results of COVID-19 tests done on 01 November 2021 confirm 49 new cases.

The cumulative confirmed cases are now 126,321

Acheng also launched the Uganda Family Planning 2030 commitments.

These are: increase equitable access and voluntary use of modern contraceptive methods for all women and couples, increase funding for adolescent sexual & reproductive health programs and ensure contraceptive commodity security.

They also aim to strengthen the policy and enabling environment for family planning, strengthening Family Planning data use at all levels and addressing family planning myths and misconceptions through evidence based SBSS and advocacy.
