Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has fired back at Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees Hilary Onek who accused her of usurping the powers of his office.

In a letter, Onek said that since Nabbanja was appointed into office, he has been observing her with total displeasure as she intentionally took up their roles as a ministry.

He cited the way she has been calling for meetings, going for disaster-affected places, and visiting refugee settlements without informing his office or that of my deputy.

Addressing press at parliament on Tuesday, Nabbanja said that she has not yet received this letter.

“If the minister decided to address me through social media then that’s different; he’s indisciplined. I am waiting for the letter. I have not seen the letter. Maybe he was still formulating it.”

“Our offices are near each other. We have had a number of meetings and sometimes he doesn’t attend. Even today, he didn’t attend.”

She added: “And we cannot let Ugandans to be suffocated. I told you on the onset in my term office that we shall not accept laziness. So let me wait for the letter.”
