Army passes out drivers, quarter masters

A total of 18 TATA Bus Drivers and 47 Regimental Quarter Masters (RQMs) of Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces have passed out after successfully completing their courses at the School of Supply and Transport in Jinja Gadafi Barracks. 

The 4-Month Regimental Quarter masters course intake 04/21 covered areas like General Stores Management, Inventory Management and Control, Fundamentals of Arms and Ammunitions, Military Equipment and Material Accounting, Principles of Procurement, Combat Service Support among others while the 3-month TATA Bus Drivers Course Intake 02/21 included petroleum engineering, transport management, transport technology, highway code general, maintenance of vehicles and many more. 

Brig Gen Ronald Bigirwa the Commander Service Brigade, on behalf of Chief Logistics and Equipment reminded graduands that the present mighty UPDF started from scratch into the well-disciplined, patriotic and professional force it is today because of consistent training. 

“UPDF has facilitated peace in Somalia, Liberia, South Sudan and other places but it all emanates from efforts put in training and having discipline which you must consolidate.” Brig Bigirwa told graduands. 

The Commandant of the School (School of Supply and Transport) Col Amos Rutaremwa thanked the UPDF leadership for the support and applauded the graduands for enduring all hardships met during the course which aims at producing competent drivers and quarter masters.

The function was graced by Lt Col B Wanda the Chief Instructor of SOST, Lt Col RM Amanya the Commandant Defence Forces Institute of Health Science, Maj Mwebaze Manager Wazalendo Sacco Jinja branch, among others.
