An explosive has killed two children in Nakaseke district.
Police chief political commissar Asan Kasingye said the incident happened Friday in Ssegalye village, Semuto sub-county.
The children were playing with the explosive (a grenade) that looked like a jack fruit.
Kasingye identified the deceased as Kiwuuwa Pius, 11, a physically handicapped child and Kiyingi Michael 14.
Pius and Kiyingi were playing together with another child only identified as Odongo Shield who was only 10 months old.
“Please report suspicious articles,” Kasingye warned.
Sepuya Daniel, 52 years, the chairperson Segalye LCI village told police that the victims were all biological children of Namukasa Kalyango.
That today at around 1600hrs Odongo Shield picked a substance like orange and was kicking it like football.
He was later joined by his brother Pius.
He picked it and squeezed it with intension to get juice. In the course it exploded killing Pius instantly.
Kiyingi and Odongo sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to Nakaseke Hospital for medical attention.
But Kiyingi died along the way to Hospital. Odongo has been referred to Bombo army Hospital for further medical management
The scene was visited by team led by DPC Nakaseke CID and SOCO. The sketch plan was drawn by SOCO and photographs taken by him.
Some witnesses were interviewed and their statements recorded. Some exhibits are to be recovered.
The scene is condoned awaiting the team of Bomb experts from counter Terrorism Kampala.
