By Stella Nyanzi

She lies in a cold grave in a public cemetery of KCCA,

Her bombed body rushedly sutured back into place

After state forensic experts dug shrapnel from tissue

And no relative claimed her remains from the mortuary.

She was just a waitress selling pork and beer to revellers.

A vulnerable immigrant working hard to feed herself,

Possibly turning tricks for cash in Komamboga,

A jovial girl connecting with customers and employers,

A foreigner possibly from Rwanda, Burundi, or DRC.

Yet that crudely assembled bomb tore her apart,

Sending her poor soul prematurely to Jesus in heaven.

Imagine dying at twenty years from a shabby bomb,

And dictator Museveni called her murderers pigs!

All that the Commander-in-Chief did was namecalling!

Emily Nyiraneza joined Brenda daughter of Wamala

Who was murdered this year in cold blood

When gun-wielding assasins on motorbikes shot bullets

Angry flying bullets aimed at ending the General’s life.

Emily Nyiraneza is another innocent lamb slaughtered

In the insecurity emblematic of Museveni’s Uganda.

Rest well in perfect peace, Emily Nyiraneza.

You were just a pawn in Museveni’s militant regime!
