Hon. Ssegirinya Muhammad and Hon. Allan Ssewanyana have been denied bail by the High Court in Masaka.
Masaka High Court Judge Lawrence Tweyanze declined the bail applications for the MPs Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana saying that state proved a likelihood that they would interfere with incomplete investigations.
The judge further cited a likelihood that the two might “abscond from the court” if released on bail.
The same court last Thursday deferred its ruling on the bail application of two opposition lawmakers to today, Monday.
The lawmakers and their co- accused persons are facing seven courts –four of murder, attempted murder, two charges of terrorism, aiding and abetting terrorism –all arising out of their alleged participation in the recent spate of killings of 26 people in Masaka Sub Region.
Their lawyer Erias Lukwago had presented six sureties including; MPs Joseph Ssewungu (Kalungu West), Derrick Nyeko (Makindye East) and Geoffrey Kayemba (Bukomansimbi South). Others are Moses Kasibante (former MP Rubaga North) and Kampala city councilors; Kevin Namakula(Makindye Ward) and Thomas Bagonza (Wandegeya ).
