Monsignor Henry Kyabukasa has passed on aged 91.
Kyabukasa, the young brother of Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala, died Wednesday at Villa Maria Hospital in Masaka district.
“I join my Bishop the Ordinary of Masaka in thanksgiving to God for the glorious Priestly life for one of Masaka’s most celebrated Priests; The iconic Msgr Henry Kyabukasa. A Great servant has returned to the Father’s House!” said Mathias Mpuuga, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, in a condolence message.
He added: “Sincere condolences to HE Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala for the loss of his young brother. The lawns of Bukalasa shall never be the same again; for a man who has literally stepped on every inch of the same has rested. Thank you Great teacher & Lord’s humble servant.”
Radio Maria Uganda said Kyabukasa spent nearly all his life training priests at Bukalasa Minor Seminary in Masaka Diocese.
Last year, he was walking with difficulty because of a painful leg that had confined him to his residence.
Kyabukasa was teaching English, History, and Latin and still coached seminarians for Advanced Level Latin examinations.
He studied at Makerere University and at Exeter College, University of Oxford.
He spent a long teaching career at Holy Family Seminary Bukalasa in Luweero.
